What a difference a humble biscuit can make!
In 1976 a delightfully small and very Aussie biscuit business began in regional NSW with a single mission: to create employment for people with a disability. The same opportunity most of us don’t even think twice about.
From a single Jam Drop, lovingly made with a recipe donated by Forbes local Noelene Hudson, our Aussie Biscuits grew and grew. In 1976 our employees hand-made 600 Jam Drops a day. By 2018 we’d outgrown our original factory and moved into a brand-new location, allowing us to create more jobs, and even more delicious bikkies!
Today we produce thousands of biscuits a day, in six different flavours – still made with love – for the retail market, hospitality industry and fundraising groups.
Aussie Biscuits continues to focus on promoting our purpose: to give people with a disability a great life.
We employ more than 30 people with a disability and some of them have been making our yummy bikkies for over 40 years! Find out more about becoming a Supported Employee at Aussie Biscuits.
Our biscuits have changed lives. We’re living proof of the difference a humble biscuit can make.
You once knew us as House with No Steps and The Tipping Foundation – two great organisations, with over 100 years of combined experience, who came together in 2018.
Now, you know us as Aruma.
Yes, we are a disability service provider that can provide you with quality disability services such as Supported Independent Living (SIL), Supported Employment (though businesses like Aussie Biscuits), and Support Coordination. But we can do so much more.
We can be your helper, mentor, coach and trusted partner, like we are to over 5,000 adults and children with a disability throughout the east coast of Australia.
Aruma is bold and brave, and here for the new world of disability support – the NDIS world. We never use a one-size-fits-all approach. You know how to live your best life – we’re here to support you to do just that.
Our focus is always fully on you. You. First.
